  I’m no great expert on this, but this looks to be just a port of a real RPG (Chrono Trigger) for the Sega Saturn. For those familiar with Chrono Trigger, it retains all of the battle and spell systems and maps. It has a few improvements, the most prominent being better graphics, but it isn’t a remake (though it feels like it’s a remaster).

  It also features a heavily modified story from the original. I thought it might be a good idea to save some people some grief by going into it a bit before getting into the nuts and bolts of gameplay. If you want to skip all this, however, you can jump to the gameplay section.

  The game features 10 playable characters with their own strengths and weaknesses, called classes. Classes range from the generic High Mage, High Warrior and High Thief to the agile Dark Mage, Dark Thief and Dark Warrior, and are broken down into 3 tiers of strength and 2 tiers of magic. The most basic of these are on the bottom, the average of them are average and the expert is the best. You can get to the most expert class from any character by reaching Lv. 99, and you can only max out your magic by reaching Lv. 999. The maximum level for a class is 999.

  The graphics are nice, and the battles are quite a bit more flashy than the typical action RPG fare. The character models are plenty detailed, and as a result, the enemies are pretty detailed as well. It has a fine detail to its background, and is also very easy on the eyes.

  The game also has a neat feature where when you’re equipped with a weapon, you can see the different types of magic they can perform.

  The game only features six magic spells, but it adds the element of your character’s equipment to how you do magic. The more equipment you equip, the easier you can do it, and the higher the quality of the magic used. The basic spells are weak, so these are usually used in melee or at a distance. The stronger spells will be useful for all types of combat situations.
