So, it’s been almost two months since I’ve posted anything here. I know, I know, I’ve just been so busy getting ready to leave for my first post-graduation trip. (I’m starting my job at a museum in Minnesota in two weeks). But that’s not what I wanted to post about.

So, the quick story is that the trip I’m going on is a “grand” trip. I’m going with the FIRST INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURE TRIP (IDT) of my life, going to Tanzania to teach (3 days) and spend a week in a Mijikenda village. I’m working with a local partner, which is a nonprofit organization called Prana. Prana is an international non-profit organization with the goal of creating sustainable economic opportunity for people living in rural areas. They have a strong presence in Tanzania, and have programs all over Africa. They focus on empowering women, specifically to break the cycle of poverty and start a business. The 3 days I’m teaching in Zanzibar will be preparing the women to start their own businesses, and I’ll be helping with the curriculum for a new program they are starting in a few months. The 7 days spent in a village will be working with the women to get their businesses off the ground. I�
