Start by opening a previously saved image in Photoshop. For the purposes of this book, you will use an image from the 300 DPI 300.dng JPEG file.

The first thing you see is the workspace (figure 2.1), where you have all of the controls and the tools you can use to create and edit your images. Notice the two up and down arrows at the left of the workspace? These are your zoom and pan tools; you will use them frequently as you work. It is critical to remember to zoom in (using Ctrl+scroll wheel) and pan around (using Ctrl+scroll wheel) your image to fit the display screen.

Frantically clicking on the image name will bring the image into view. It is possible to name the layer, if you have more than one, using the layer controls, or to name the file simply using the file name.

Once you have an image open in Photoshop, you have a choice of working with a mouse or with your computer keyboard. There is no right or wrong way; both are just another tool in your toolbox.

Working with the keyboard is a little slower, but it is a great way to make the adjustments with precision using the keyboard controls.

The most important controls for editing an image are in the upper-right corner. The top of the workspace includes three controls:

The zoom control allows you to zoom in (using Ctrl+scroll wheel) or zoom out (using Ctrl−scroll wheel).

b.

The guides and snap tools allow you to align your image with the edge of the display.

c.

The transform control allows you to rotate, flip, or reflect the image.

It is very common for a novice to do all of their work with the mouse. This is fine as long as they know how to use the keyboard controls (I’ll tell you more about the keyboard in the next section).

The shortcuts I use most often are Ctrl+G to select an image, Ctrl+J to deselect the last item, and Ctrl+Shift+G or Cmd+Shift+G to select a new layer.

I also recommend practicing using keyboard shortcuts before moving to the mouse and before moving to more complex adjustment techniques. These also apply to the next section.

You can also add a variety of photo filters to your images.

Photoshop Elements has a limited selection of basic photo editing tools

You cannot use any of the advanced Photoshop features such as graduated filters, Layer Masks, levels adjustments and blending modes.

Elements is ideal for editing images that have a RAW or straighten image.

Like Photoshop, Elements is a very flexible, powerful software that could be used to create a wide variety of graphic effects. Unlike Photoshop, Elements isn’t specifically built for a particular type of photo editing.

Learning the Difference Between a RAW and a Jpeg

An image that is shot in RAW files cannot be edited until they have been converted into a Jpeg.

A RAW file contains the original color information that has been recorded from the image sensor. A RAW file can contain images with any of the tonal values that existed in the original image.

Your second sentence could be rephrased as, “my parents are getting mad at me.”
In this case, we can use a pretty common idiom, which we’re starting to see become popular:

The cat is out of the bag.

Here, ‘the cat’ is meaning your parents. ‘The bag’ is your attempt to hide or keep something secret.
Unfortunately, we can’t really use the noun shape as a way to say this exact same thing, but we can use a synonym for the same meaning:

The cat is out of the bag.

Your books are out of shape.
Your parents are out of shape.

Note that the phrase is also common in popular culture:

That cat is out of the bag. (It’s out of hiding now; it’s open to the public.)

Is it possible to change the background color of a paragraph using only CSS? This code will work:

Rails 4 + Devise + Omniauth – redirect url is empty

I’m trying to implement OAuth with Devise + omniauth and i found a few guides on how to do that.
I’m using the method on the GitHub.
But i can’t seem to figure out why when i redirect to the callback url, that callback_url is empty.
This is my devise routes:
devise_for :users, :controllers => {:registrations => “registrations”}

And this is the code i’m using in my users controller:
