After you get familiar with the built-in Photoshop editing tools, you can take advantage of all the powerful editing features of available third-party plug-ins. We start off this chapter with a detailed step-by-step approach to using Photoshop’s layers to create complex images and then move on to some alternatives to Photoshop that offer a range of photo-editing tools.
Creating a New Image
Before you start creating a new image, you need to create a new document to start with. In Photoshop CS6, this task is as simple as pressing the New File button on the top of your screen. Although Photoshop’s options menu is shown in Figure 4-1, you can also access most of the same editing tools by pressing the keyboard shortcuts CTRL+N (Windows) or CMD+N (Mac). This shortcut brings up the New File dialog box. After you select a file format, the resulting image opens in the Photoshop Editor.
**Figure 4-1:** The Tools panel appears along the top of the screen.
The Details
When you create a new file in Photoshop CS6, it automatically creates a new document and adds the name of the document to the top of the Layers panel. If you want to start a new layer, you must first create a new document.
You should only create a new file if you want to enter an image directly into Photoshop. You can open existing Photoshop documents from other file formats as layers and work on them. If you have a file saved in another format, it can always be imported and converted to Photoshop format later.

Naming Files
When you name files, you should use a meaningful name that describes what the file contains. In other words, it shouldn’t be just a filename with no context.
If you click the Options button in the Options bar, you’ll see the Utility Options dialog box, as shown in Figure 4-2. In the Name box, you can use the predefined naming conventions, or you can edit what appears in the name as soon as you click OK to exit the Options dialog box. If you want to create your own naming conventions, check out the chapters in the section “Creating Your Own Naming Convention” later in this chapter to get more ideas.
**Figure 4-2:** You can customize the naming of the image.
When you first use Photoshop, you’re met with the Welcome screen, as shown in Figure
Photoshop Elements features can be accessed through the Photoshop CC desktop app (this also works in Photoshop apps running on a Mac) and through the application itself.
You can use Photoshop Elements to edit images, create web art, design titles and logos and make simple animations.
In this post, you will learn how to edit images in Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements (version 13.1.0 and later)
Before moving on to the how-to guides, check out the official guidelines.
How to open a Photoshop Elements image file?
After downloading Photoshop Elements, you can open a photo, apply a filter and crop, add text to an image and more. You can also open an image file and choose ‘Open Image’ as shown above.

Q:
error while using protocol forwarding in communication between 2 routers
I am trying to implement data exchange between Routers in Link-local.
Suppose, routerR0 is my router and routerR1 is my neighbor router.
Initially, my routerR0 is my master (I have a fixed IP address for this router as 192.168.1.1).
routerR0 sends L2 frame for neighbor routerR1 with the destination address of 192.168.1.1
after this, I have created an IP address for the new interface eth1 and have given it a default gateway of routerR1.
routerR1 receives L2 frame for 192.168.1.1 (Nbr solicited) and transfers it to 192.168.1.1
As given below:
forwarding(from netA(192.168.1.10) to netB(192.168.1.30))
X.x.1.1 –> X.x.1.2
X.x.1.2 –> X.x.2.1
X.x.2.1 –> 192.168.1.30
However, when I ping 192.168.1.1 from routerR0, it is always failing.
Please guide.
A:
It seems you misunderstand how the protocol works. As you are going to be using L2 for the connection, it’s the router that sends/receives the frames.
A router will look at what the L3 address for the destination is, and as it knows it’s own address, it can set up a packet to be sent to the correct destination by generating and sending a frame to its interface with the address in the destination field.
However, you have the following setup for your Internet link:
ISP Router (AS6455) > ISP Router (AS4430) > ISP Router (AS4420) > AS4420 > AS4430 > AS6455
So there are 4 levels of AS numbers separating the routers. At the IP layer, that means you have 4 IP addresses that are used in the protocol. For example, when something arrives at the ISP Router, it will be forwarded to AS6455 with the IP address in the destination field being 64.236.0.7. However, from there, there will be a forwarding decision to be made between the routers, and if not
A new protocol for the treatment of beta-thalassemia major with hydroxycarbamide.
Hydroxycarbamide, an antineoplastic agent, was first used to reduce serum levels of beta-globin chains in children with sickle cell anemia. Because hematologic effects are similar in beta-thalassemia, hydroxycarbamide was used in combination with blood transfusions to treat subjects with beta-thalassemia major. To determine whether this treatment is safe and effective, 44 patients with beta-thalassemia major were studied. Each received 24 mg/kg/day of hydroxycarbamide for 12 weeks in combination with blood transfusions and hydroxyurea at the usual dosages. Red blood cell counts, hemoglobin F levels, and plasma transfusion requirements declined significantly (P less than 0.01) during the 12-week study period. Transfusion requirements, the amount of hemoglobin F in transfused cells, and the percentage of the patients transfused decreased by 55%, 80%, and 70%, respectively. Plasma levels of beta-globin chains decreased by 47% and the ratio of beta-chain to total hemoglobin increased by 28%. The development of portal hypertension during therapy was prevented. Serum iron levels did not change. Neutropenia was a common (42%) but reversible side effect. Prolonged administration of hydroxycarbamide can be safely administered to children with beta-thalassemia major and may improve hematologic status and survival. These findings are consistent with two other uncontrolled trials in children with beta-thalassemia major treated with hydroxycarbamide for 12 weeks.Marco Rubio’s Vision of the Constitution Destroyed
In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Marco Rubio, the presumed Republican nominee for the Senate, asserts that he would “repeal and replace the Constitution.”
It is a defining phrase. For conservatives, it means that a politician is trying to trump the Constitution. Why should conservatives care about something they do not hold in high regard? They ought to, according to a pervasive and troubling trend that threatens to stamp out conservatism for a generation or more.
That’s precisely what Marco Rubio is trying to do. And it is not an accident that he has chosen his motto. Rubio knows what conservatives think of the American Constitution, even though some of them would deny it.
When he was still in the House, Rubio supported the attack on Miranda warning and the absurd interpretation
