Dude, I’m not one for naming products. I’ve had a hell of a time with the help of my friends figuring out what my toaster was. It was a huge job having to ask the people from the toaster store every day if this was in fact a “pop up toaster”. But I gotta give it to them they did sell it with a name. Here’s what we called it……It was called the “Pop out toaster”. It was designed as one product with two purposes. One to toast and one to pop out the bread. The problem was the toaster would have the bread go all the way into the toaster and the mechanism would have the problem of not being able to pull it out. We had a wonderful time trying to explain this to people as they would ask the staff what it does and they had no idea.

How to re write code, in a more simpler way

I am wondering if anyone can look at this code and recommend me to change it, as I wanted to refactor it.
Here is what I am trying to do :

If the user is on a site and then goes to another site, use the current_user to log them in.
If they haven’t logged in, log them in.

This is the code I got, which is working perfectly fine. However, the code is unnecessarily long.

user = User.create(:login => params[:login], :password => params[:password], :activation_code => params[:activation_code])

So, my goal is to make this code as simple and as clean as possible. So if possible, I wanted to refactor this code by using ternary operators, like the code below:
current_user = (params[:id] && current_user).nil??
User.find_by_login(params[:login]) :
User.find_by_login(params[:login]).first

Is this possible? If it is, can someone please share the code with me.
