Franklin John Stuntz (December 18, 1835 – June 13, 1907) was an American physician and politician.
Stuntz was born in Ross County, Ohio, near present day Chillicothe, Illinois. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1858. He was ordained by the Presbyterian Church and was installed as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Chillicothe, Ohio, in 1861. He took part in the American Civil War. During the war, he served as a colonel in the 37th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
He practiced medicine in West Virginia for forty years. He served as mayor of Charleston in 1882 and 1883. He was a member of the Republican Party and served as a mayor of Charleston in 1885 and 1887. He was a member of the Wirt County Court from 1870 to 1873 and the Charleston City Council from 1875 to 1882. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1884. Stuntz served as the Secretary of the State Board of Health from 1888 to 1895. He became the Medical Director of the U.S. Army Medical Department in 1892 and commanded the United States forces in Cuba during the Spanish–American War in 1898.
He died at his residence in Charleston, West Virginia.
